Leadership Maturity Coaching (LMC)
Most learning, training and development is geared towards expanding, deepening, and enriching a person’s current way of meaning making. It’s like filling a container to its maximal capacity. Facilitating vertical development, on the other hand, refers to supporting people to transform their current way of making sense towards broader perspectives. Leadership Maturity Coaching (LMC) supports people to first explore where they are and to discover where they are headed, while helping them find and apply the best tools and practices to get there.
Leadership Maturity Coaching is the practice of Developmental coaching (based on ego-development theory and the LMF) to help individuals become aware of where they are on their path of unfolding to more mature ways of thinking, feeling and being. LMC uses the Leadership Maturity Profile to tailor the coaching at the leader’s stage and focuses on 4 moves:
Consolidation (affirming where the person is at and help them be more at ‘home’ at their center of gravity by expanding their repertoire at that stage)
Transition (helping individuals navigate their growing edges and begin learning how to transition to the next stage)
Integration (helping individuals to go back and integrate, digest, own and engage with aspects of earlier stages they have have left behind)
Transformation (helping individuals to become more alive to transformational
questions that can radically shift them to a new stage of meaning-making)
LMC operates on a set of principles and guidelines and offers a well-described methodology to facilitate an integral developmental movement.
